Old house hunting: The Aguinaldo Shrine


I have always felt affinity with old houses. I don’t know if it’s the smell of aged wood, the history, or the overall aura that draws me, but in general I like things that are old. It calms me. Today, I have visited the Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite. It was where the declaration of Philippine Independence was made and is featured in the now discontinued five peso bill. With its very ornate hand-carved hardwood furnishings, I was awestruck by the amount of work done and craftsmanship of its builders.
